Ensemble Musica Sequenza was founded by composer and bassoonist Burak Özdemir in 2008, standing for the innovation of historical performance and the development of an intercultural artistic movement. “Baroque is the new pop!” Musica Sequenza has conquered the leading festivals of the international music scene with this artistic slogan. The group received in the blink of an eye, international attention for their unique interpretations – not only by their vivid and virtuoso performances, but also the cutting-edge electro-baroque shows, where electronic and early music are brought in dialogue. The latest productions “Bach The Silent Cantata” and “Sampling Baroque Handel” have been highly praised by critics and audiences worldwide. Commissioned by the Grand Palais Museum in Paris, Musica Sequenza recorded exceptional music by Spanish baroque composers for the Diego Velazquez world-tour Exhibition in 2015, which followed by an international DVD Release. Musica Sequenza works with internationally known stars like Sasha Waltz & Guests, Rolando Villazon, Van Rivers, Kenneth Weiss and Daniel Bubeck to name a few. The Ensemble regularly receives commissions from renowned festivals and international concert series as Handel Festspiele Halle, International Bach Festival Schaffhausen, Thüringer Bach Wochen, Lincoln Center New York and many more. The ensemble works in close partnership with institutes such as Radial System V, Borusan Culture, Ostgut Berghain and Uckermark Music Weeks. Performing on period instruments in various chamber orchestrations from an intimate duo to a full-size baroque opera orchestra, Musica Sequenza also presents truly outstanding performances on modern instruments with a repertoire up to the contemporary composers. The ensemble plays a leading role in the contemporary art scene with their inter-disciplinary productions of new music, electro-acoustic, modern dance, conceptual performance and experimental music theater.
