About Josh Lake
Josh Lake is a musician, producer, recording engineer, and graphic designer based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
September 2015 his sophomore album, the Christmas record, "40cm Of Funk" received 6 nominations. Winning the GMA Covenant Award for 'Seasonal Album of the Year' and nominated for, 'R&B/Urban Song of the Year' and 'Collaboration of the Year'. 2015 Music Nova Scotia nominations include: 'Inspirational Album of the Year, 'Studio Engineer of the Year' and 'Visual Artist of the Year'.
December 2014 saw the release of Josh's Christmas album "40cm of Funk" at his 4th annual Christmas show, 'Experience Christmas', featuring the 2014 GMA Covenant award nominated single "O Come All Ye Faithful (O Holy Night)".
2013 saw the successful release of his 7 time nominated debut album "Across 110th Street" featuring the GMA award winning track "Do You Want It?". The album received 2 GMA Covenant award nominations in 2013, 3 ECMA award nominations in 2014, and 2 Music Nova Scotia award nominations for not only the music, but also recording and album design.
While retreating to the British Isles during a long, cold winter, Josh's experiences there breathed new life into his spirit and musical soul; walking the grounds of the ancient world of Stonehenge, drinking hand pumped bitter ale in a 300 year old pub in Belfast, standing on the basalt rock formations at Giant's Causeway in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, and wrecking his Toms climbing the ruins of Dunluce Castle where Led Zepplin took their inner album photo for Houses of the Holy.
Inspiration came swiftly and he realized,
"it's not about what you say you're going to do, it's about doing, about making music that matters, touching people's lives in meaningful ways.....it's about what you leave behind."
Josh does Funk & Soul the way it's supposed to be done: true, gritty and raw!
