Tobi Kramer

English: Tobi Kramer was introduced to music at a very early age. His father was a musician and mastered a number of musical instruments, so no wonder that Tobi was already enrolled in music school for a basic course on music education at age 6. A year later he moved on to guitar lessons and played acoustic, as well as later on, electric guitar for several years. Founding a band however didn't really come to his mind as he gradually discovered his growing interest in electronic music. Mixing different tracks quickly started to fascinate him. At age 15 he bought his first DJ equipment and shortly after he started performing in clubs behind the decks. Well received, he was increasingly booked by local clubs and discotheques for spinning records. It didn't take him long though to figure out that he got more interested in creating his own music. So more and more he concentrated on producing House and Techno tracks. Tobi then, at age 20, moved to Cologne to study audio engineering at the SAE Institute where he put his focus entirely on music production. When Tobi hears about the “Stil vor Talent” Remix Contest in spring 2011, he instantly knows: “I have to participate in there!” A few days after he submits his remix, Oliver Koletzki gives him a call. He is thrilled about Tobi's remix of Niko Schwind's song “Midnight”. Tobi ranks third and not only is his remix released on Beatport, but he even debuts in the Tech House Charts! Oliver gets hooked on this young talent and lets him contribute a track to the “6 years of Stil vor Talent” compilation. Moreover he asks him to produce a remix for his album “Großstadtmärchen 2”! End of 2011, Formatik Records also hosts a Remix Contest. Tobi grasps this opportunity and remixes with “Socks & Sandals” a track from the current Format:B album. On the day he submits his remix, Franziskus tests it in the legendary Studio 80 in Amsterdam. It is THE record of the night and Tobi is instantly considered among the favorites of the contest. In the end, Jakob is equally enthusiastic and Tobi wins the contest. His remix gets released together with mixes from Pan-Pot and DJ PP. In February 2013 Tobi's debut EP "Aye Patch" was released on Formatik Records and got right off big support from names like Umek, Format:B, Sébastien Léger, Simina Grigoriu, Daniel Steinberg and many more!
 From then on he continued with releases on other famous imprints such as Mistakes Music or Great Stuff Recordings, so he became an inherent part of the scene! By now clubs like Watergate in Berlin, Romy S. in Stuttgart, Rakete in Nuremberg, Übel & Gefährlich in Hamburg, Ampere in Munich, Poema in Utrecht (NL), Postgarage in Graz (A), Via Felsenau in Bern (CH) and many more are part of his references. Deutsch: Schon früh kam Tobi Kramer mit Musik in Kontakt. Da sein Vater selbst Musiker war und mehrere Instrumente beherrschte, war es nicht verwunderlich, dass Tobi bereits im Alter von 6 Jahren in der Musikschule zur Musikalischen Grundausbildung angemeldet wurde. Ein Jahr später bekam er dort Gitarrenunterricht und spielte mehrere Jahre Akustik- und später auch E-Gitarre. Zur Gründung einer Band kam es aber nicht, da Tobi mehr und mehr sein Interesse an Elektronischer Musik entdeckte. Das Ineinandermischen verschiedener Tracks faszinierte ihn. So kaufte er sich mit 15 das erste DJ Equipment und stand wenige Zeit später schon das erste Mal im Club hinter den Plattenspielern. Von da an legte er mehr und mehr in lokalen Clubs und Diskotheken auf. Doch schon bald wurde das Interesse am Kreieren eigener Stücke geweckt und so beschäftigte sich Tobi zunehmend mit der Produktion von House und Techno Tracks. Mit 20 zieht er schließlich nach Köln um dort am SAE Institute Audio Engineering zu studieren und seinen Fokus ganz auf das Thema Musikproduktion zu legen. Als er im Frühjahr 2011 vom Stil vor Talent Remix Contest erfährt, ist ihm sofort klar: „Da muss ich mitmachen!“ Wenige Tage nach Einsendung seines Remixes meldet sich Oliver Koletzki, der von Tobis Remix zu Niko Schwinds „Midnight“ sehr begeistert ist. Tobi macht den 3. Platz und sein Remix wird nicht nur bei Beatport veröffentlicht, sondern steigt dort sogar in die Tech House Charts ein! Oliver will mehr von dem jungen Talent und lässt ihn einen Track zur „6 Years of Stil vor Talent“ Compilation beisteuern und einen Remix für sein Album „Großstadtmärchen 2“ produzieren! Ende 2011 veranstaltet auch Formatik Records einen Remix Contest. Tobi nutzt die Chance und remixt mit „Socks & Sandals“ einen Track vom aktuellen Format:B Album. Noch am selben Tag, an dem er seinen Remix abschickt, testet Franziskus diesen im legendären Studio 80 in Amsterdam. Es ist DIE Platte des Abends und der Mix gehört sofort zu den Favoriten des Contests. Schließlich ist auch Jakob so begeistert, dass Tobi zum Contest Winner ernannt und sein Remix zusammen mit den Mixen von Pan-Pot und DJ PP veröffentlicht wird. Im Februar 2013 erscheint schließlich Tobis Debüt EP "Aye Patch" auf Formatik Records und bekommt schon gleich Support von DJ Größen wie Umek, Format:B, Sébastien Léger, Simina Grigoriu, Daniel Steinberg und vielen mehr.
 Mit Folge-Releases auf namhaften Labels wie Mistakes Music und Great Stuff Recordings hat Tobi Kramer sich zweifellos zum festen Bestandteil der Szene entwickelt! Mittlerweile kann er Clubs wie Watergate in Berlin, Romy S. in Stuttgart, Rakete in Nürnberg, Übel & Gefährlich in Hamburg, Ampere in München, Poema in Utrecht (NL), Postgarage in Graz (A), Via Felsenau in Bern (CH) und viele weitere zu seinen Referenzen zählen.
