About Rimfrost

It was Summer 2002, when, in the small Swedish town of Hagfors, two fourteen year old metal fanatics crossed paths. This encounter led to a brother-like bond forming between singer and guitarist Hravn and drummer Throllv.

United in their devotion to metal, the teenagers established black metal band MÖRKRETS FURSTAR (“Lords of Darkness”). One demo and one year later, Hravn and Throllv changed the name to RIMFROST, moved on from their primitive sound, adopted a more technical style and replaced Swedish lyrics for English.

Recorded in 2003, “Unredeemed Demons” was their first RIMFROST demo and only ten copies were ever released. In 2005 No Colours Records released the Swedes EP “A Journey to a Greater End."

Reactions were enthusiastic, and RIMFROST were chosen from hundreds of contenders to perform at Inferno Festival in Oslo, Easter 2006. They were considered one of the most talented newcomers in the metal scene.
Later that year, RIMFROST released their debut album “A Frozen World Unknown” through No Colours Records. It was met with high critical acclaim. That same year Throllv left Hagfors for the city of Borås and Rimfrost was effectively put on hold. In January 2008 Hravn followed Throllv to Borås, and RIMFROST awoke from hibernation.

“Veraldar Nagli” RIMFROST’s second album was recorded with renowned producer Andy La Rocque (King Diamond) and released in November 2009 by Season Of Mist. It was praised for 'bringing forth a new kind of brutality.'

Hravn and Throllv were joined by several different bassist during their lengthy history - Frozthirw, Beuwolf , Peter Laustsen, BC and Isthar. In 2016 they brought current bassist - the talented and ambitious - Jörgen Ström into the fold.

2016 proved to be the busiest and most successful year of RIMFROST'S career. They signed with Non Servium records who released "Rimfrost," the band's long awaited 3rd album. The album was commended for its excellent production, addictive riffs and seamlessly blended mix of styles. It was cited by many reviewers as one of the best albums of 2016. The band headlined Sodom Metal Fest in Holland and performed several shows in Sweden.

RIMFROST gathered its hordes closer in 2016, treating them to unique insights into the band through their documentary Beyond A Frozen World Unknown, and live streamed videos. The band's easy going nature attracted metal listeners bored of the toxic, elitist attitude shared by one too many black metal bands.

RIMFROST are holding the pulse of Swedish black metal, kick-starting it into a new era. With a tour planned for Spring 2017 and a new album on the horizon, the Swedes are ready to freeze the metal world over and claim it for their own.
