About Sian Evans Music
Sian Evans' journey with music has seen her explore the continent playing numerous festivals and connecting with the full spectrum of pro muso’s over numerous genre’s and styles. These days she be settlin’ into a fine concave of folk/roots, alt-country/soul-grass and folk music being the master nest fuelling last years EP “How time has treated thee” with Aria award winning producer, Govinda Doyle, featuring the single “Take me Home” pondering the simple joys, and title track “Blackest Crow”, Sian’s version of Traditional American folk song, amongst a few other mountainous ditty’s showcasing her fresh banjo slinging skills. With the latest release of new single “Cold Feet” produced by Josh Schuberth in Love Hz studios, Sydney, and featuring Gareth Mewes on Fiddle and Mike Haydon on percussion, the breathy rollicking pop-country ditty is a sequel to last years single and currently in line for a Queensland Music Award.
Her creative endeavours have spurred successful projects in dinky ragtime/jazz (Pollysassin), flood-folk/new-grass (The Rusty Datsuns) as well as her own solo gypsy-jazz/ roots works (Bessy-Lou).
While loving the old, she’s playing with them new and getting her cogs sifting through popular variations and working through rebirthing her own versions of tunes or writing her own, still reminiscent of a time before with traditional inflections generally lending itself toward a folk and country roots feel.
With a number of achievements under her belt inside numerous acts including;
Finalist Queensland Music Awards 2016 with single “cold feet”, national rotation with ABC for 2015’s “take me home”, ABC 612 Album of the week with EP “how time has treated thee”, debut solo 2014 Woodford Folk Festival, 2015’s Tamworth Toyota Star Maker Finalist, Semi-Finalist 2015 International Song writing Competition with 2015’s single “Take Me Home”, Queensland Music Design Award (QMDA 2015) for film clip “Take Me Home”, ABC612 Album Of the Week 2013 with “RiverBank” (The Rusty Datsuns), packed out Woodford tents at 2012’s festival with The Rusty Datsuns, 2 finalist positions and a highly commended in 2010’s Queensland Music Awards with a couple of tracks from her self released album “The definition of” under moniker “Bessy-LOU” and an impressive back catalogue of supports including CW Stoneking, Tim Rogers, Claire Bowditch, Katie Noonan to name a few. Oh, and each release she's been a part of since 2010 has received some triple J love. She’s one of those artists that sits a solid solo show, vocally, instrumentally, is authentic in personality and mood and always has a bench mark of greatness with her creative endeavours.
