Breakneck The Mage

I'm a recording artist / promoter based in Minneapolis,MN by the name of Breakneck the Mage. Thank you so much for checking out and supporting my work! I began rapping and making beats while attending college back in about 2003 in Wisconsin. My friends and I made a few good songs and a bunch of bad ones and during this time I started DJing parties and shows all around town. DJ Beze and myself hosted a weekly dance night that became wildly popular and led to me booking more shows at different venues and festivals and expanding my network. Over the following five years or so I would release mixtapes, singles , albums at a breakneck (pun) pace and build a solid reputation throughout the Midwest for my live show and work ethic. I hosted a weekly FM radio show , wrote hip hop articles for Volume One Magazine , did open mics , and still had time to work two, sometimes three jobs. A 2010 relocation to the Twin Cities led me to begin promoting and hosting shows at a much more frequent rate than I was used to and built me venue relationships that have continued to this day. Regional touring during this period pushed me out to new audiences all over the country through self-booked DIY tours. An unexpected opportunity came about when I participated in an acapella rap battle around 2010. To this date I have over 15 battles released on YouTube and it has helped me expose my character and creations to many new and different people. I also became well traveled in that regard as promoters from Colorado and Missouri booked me for out of state events. Battling is still fun, I'll continue to do it until it's not anymore. As of 2014 I have played over 500 shows in 15 states, and have been fortunate to work with or play with artists like Astronautalis , Eyedea & Abilities , Tech N9ne , Grieves , Mac Lethal , Ecid , Kristoff Krane , Ras Kass , Aceyalone and many many more. I've had more press on radio and TV than I'd ever thought I would and I'm excited to see what happens in the next ten years! Cheers.
