Avant Garden

Formed in the aftermath of a Queens of the Stone Age concert in summer 2013, Avant Garden is an alternative rock trio based in Central Finland. The band consists of Jaakko Inkinen, Teemu Kaipomäki and Ville Hardén, who originally met during a gap year in a music institute in 2009. Wondering why they’d never had a real musical project together, they decided to give it a shot. Later that summer, the trio gathered at Teemu’s place in Jämsä for a weekend of songwriting, drinking and general tomfoolery. These sessions have since become an ongoing phenomenon continuing to this day and the band’s ambition and focus have only grown over time.

Their sound is heavily influenced by the desert rock scene of Palm Desert, California, as well as alternative rock, indie rock and psychedelic rock music. Still, the band claims to have no interest in loyalty towards any particular genre; as far as music’s concerned, anything that sounds good goes.

The band’s first EP “The Amazing Adventures of Space Cadet” was written and recorded between 2013 and 2015 and released a day after their first live performance on November 14, 2015. The current live band consists of Jaakko Inkinen (vocals, guitar), Teemu Kaipomäki (vocals, guitar), Ville Hardén (bass, percussion), Samuli Hyvönen (guitar, keyboards) and Konsta Vehkala (drums).
