About The Hubies

The Hubies (Pronounced: "HYOUBEEZ") formed in the spring of 2003 with Tommy Gun on guitar and vocals, Chubby McCarlson on drums and vocals, and Bubs McGruff on bass and vocals. But that's not where the history of this band starts. The origin of this band was a thriving music scene in the late 90's in a northern Michigan town called Alpena. Members of this band used to play in some old Alpena bands such as Switch 76, Nucid, Intertia's Fault, The Ex-Members, and Robbery In Progress. They put all of their experience together to form The Hubies. They've been doing this for a long time. Shortly after forming they entered the studio and laid down an 11 track full length album entitled "Dead Men Talking." They proceeded to tour in support of that album. A few months after the release of the first album, they hired 2nd guitarist Tofer Mquell to round out the line up. They returned to the studio and recorded a 5 song EP entitled, "Riff Raff." Sadly after only a few months of being in the band, they had to let Tofer go. They still continued on as a 3 piece playing show after show, often sharing the stage with bands like: Mustard Plug, Thought Riot, Much The Same, Everybody Out! (members of Dropkick Murphys), Flatfoot 56, Blueprint 76 (ex Suicide Machines), and Nuke and the Living Dead. In the Winter of 2004 The Hubies parted ways for personal reasons and each went on to do different musical endeavors. Tommy joined Nuke and the Living Dead on 2nd guitar and back up vocals, Chubby formed The Shocker, and joined the Movement, and Bubs jammed with a few other projects playing guitar. In November of 2005 exactly 1 year to the day from their last show, the Hubies reformed for 2 reunion shows around their home state of Michigan. During those shows Johnny Ogres of Nuke and the Living Dead filled in on 2nd guitar to round out the line up. On July 3rd, 2006 they entered the studio to demo 5 new songs. Hours later they left the studio with a new demo EP Entitled "The Hubies - With Top Hats." 5 straight forward punk rock anthems that show a slightly darker side to the band. Songs about psychos, murderers, madmen, and hitmen. Splatter Style! They are currently playing shows and plotting a new EP. Download our complete discography for FREE at http://thehubies.bandcamp.com
