The Sigourney Weavers

Rewind to 2008, Robert Jansson (Vocals/guitar) and Peter Larsson (drummer) starts to jam some tunes just for fun in the classic rehearsal place ”Kåken”(Jailhouse) in Ludvika, Sweden. The Gentlemen meet more and more and Johan Hjelm jumps in to play bass. They soon realize that there’s so much good material that it must be distributed to the starving scene. Fellas start to work on a self titled six song demo and shortly after they make their first appearance on a local joint. The high energetic guitarist Thomas Liljekvist also jumps on the wagon and everything starts to take off. All of the members have met in various music circles and played in different constellations before, therefore it was no problem to get it all together and start up The Sigourney Weavers, why keep such brilliant minds in the dark?! The band starts to get very good reviews and gets more and more gigs. While starting to work on their first full length album ”Send in the clowns” The Sigourney Weavers team up with a booking agent. The album embrace gigs at major festivals and all the famous venues in Sweden (supporting bands such as The Sugarplum Fairy) the band becomes a favorite amongst the listeners, and the newspapers takes quickly notice to their success. In 2011 and the band gets in contact with their friend and drinking buddy Erik Arnberg who just got back to Sweden after having been touring abroad for a while. The genius Erik is an ace on everything from piano to violin (hmm) and proves to be a great acquisition to the sound. The management company Anger Mangement run by Fredrik Larzon and Mathias Farm from Swedish band Millencolin came in contact with the band in 2012 after a gig in Örebro Sweden, and begins to collaborate right away. In 2013, the band focuses on recording the second album. They get in touch with the german record label Rookie Records and releases single – ”Passanger” – and gets a bigger audience, even outside Sweden. After a short tour through Germany it feels that something special is about to happen. The long awaited album ”Blockbuster” will see the light during the summer of 2014. It has only just begun… The band’s music has always been a cocktail of everything from pop/rock to ska, now they start to experiment even more and embarks on the bigger arena rock sound that today is a bit of the band’s trademark. The work on the upcoming full length album ”Blockbuster” has been intense and the master piece is now ready for the public to taste. ”We usually say that a good song is a good song regardless of style” that’s the real essence of the band. Oh, we almost forgot. The band name… We had been thinking for a while about that when friend of ours aka The God Of Rock simply said at a party – You should name the band The Sigourney Weavers!
