About P.Y.M.P.

P.Y.M.P. is the accidental child of New Orleans funk/ electronica quartet, Gravity A. Michael Fouquier and Andrew Meehan performed multiple duo shows billed as “Gravity A’ while going through lineup changes with previous guitarists and bass players. Determined to create as sound that worked as a duo, Fou and Drew developed a unique way of using loopstation combined with live drums, live keyboards, and vocals to create a full sound capable of being played at any venue, big or small. The two had stumbled onto uncharted territory, and P.Y.M.P’s sound began growing in popularity due to its pop culture references. The duo set the bar for its new track releases when they debuted a new song every performance for six consecutive months. Gravity A eventually settled into a new lineup and was back on tour, putting P.Y.M.P. on hold for some time. The duo spent a year in and out of the studio during free time away from their main project; and in January 2014, P.Y.M.P. made their studio release “Mixtape Vol. I” available for free online. Following the release, P.Y.M.P.’s live format was slightly restructured. The use of Boss loopstation was outdated, and the use of laptops on stage had become more accepted by musicians and DJ’s. The upgrade led to even more seamless transitions and very little stops in their live performances. In the second half of 2014, the band has set out to make their mark on the music scene once again by scheduling many much-anticipated live performances in their hometown of New Orleans. Now featuring collaborations and set breaks by Lucas Wylie, the crowd has even less time to catch their breath on the dance floor.
