About Muzz Murray

Muzz Murray is a Franco-British guitarist and songwriter within the genre of mainly Rock and Blues, if he has to be categorised, though as he says - "it's all music".
Born in Germany, he grew up in England, just South West of London, where he was to spend the greater part of his twenty's within the Kings Road and Chelsea local music scene, having dropped out of studying Economics and Politics at Manchester University to pursue a career of what Muddy would call "A Real Rolling Stone", never long in one place to allow roots to grow - Istanbul, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Los Angeles, Bangkok, Sardinia and for now, mainland Italy, with talk of Germany, China, and back to the US upon the winds.
Picking up Monikers along the way, one that's stuck is, "The Grunge Troubadour", given to him by Luca Oddera of the Beer Room (Pontinverea, Savona), which romantically sums up the life of an electric vagabond true to his vocation. Once told by an old blues master somewhere along the way - "listen, let me tell it like it is - you don't sing, you don't eat, get it?". Murray performs his own compositions of life's experiences besides those of his heroes - Dylan, Knopfler, Reed, Cohen, Green, Waters, Cave and many others in what he believes is an acceptable amalgamation of their styles into his own. Performing most nights of the week somewhere for 2 to 3 hours, committed to his craft, he has earned himself the name of "voice of razored whiskey ... " He recalls how his first producer and life long friend Simon Henderson said all those years ago - "Muzz, you can't sing, so don't try…." A lot of whyskey later, and too many close shaves to mention, Murray's sole interest is to pump as much soul and breathe as much life as he can, into the particular story he happens to be telling at that very moment, within that given place….always evolving, with strong ties to the blues, his chosen religion, if he must have one, colourfully and artfully shaded with the various types of rock, folk jazz, reggae and any other music form he has been exposed to. "Know your limits, Know No Limits…". He projects everything the best way he can, "one voice, one electric guitar, powered through either an old Vox ac30 top boost, or fender Bassman, sometimes a Roland 80x, directly into his ever faithful SR Technology JAM 400, where the majority of the recordings come from. Muzz was included in the list of Ambassadors of Schertler Group (SR Technology, Schertler, Velvet Strings) amplification as well as being awarded a Hell Guitar from the eponymous Japanese company. A night listening to Muzz Murray is an experience that leaves you moved - a man alone on stage, voice and guitar; apparently simple yet very powerful, engaging, intriguing - catching the now; stories that will involve you from start to finish.
