Little Women

Little Women are a quirky yet dark jazz-related improvs group which was formed in 2008 in Brooklyn, New York. The band's lineup includes Darius Jones at alto saxophone, Jason Nazary on the drums, Travis Laplante on tenor saxophone and Andrew Smiley on guitar. Their music is made up entirely of heavy and deeply layered jazz flecked with hints of avant-rock. A word to best describe this band is spontaneous but like all possible definitions for the band that's not entirely accurate. They are extremely spontaneous but not to the point of unlistenability, much to the contrary. Their sound takes awhile to get used to but it becomes loved by the listener very quickly.
