For their Christmas concert, the London Medical Orchestra are teaming up with the Barnet Band to present a gala of well-known musical pictures, dances and tales for all ages following their sell-out concerts earlier in the year.
This will be an enjoyable evening for the whole family, packed full of well-known winter classics for orchestra.
The musical images of Debussy's Children's Corner Suite, originally composed for piano, are cast in seasonal orchestral colours in Caplet's arrangements: the 'Serenade for the doll', 'The snow is dancing' and 'The little shepherd' lead up to the famous 'Golliwogg's cake walk'.
This is followed by Saint-Saëns's famous Danse Macabre, with its dancing skeletons!
From France to Russia: the well-spun stories of Prokofiev's Lieutenant Kijé Suite never fail to spark the imagination, and the band and orchestra combine in Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, providing a fitting climax to the evening.
One not to be missed..... and if that is not enough, there will be carols to be sung, and mulled wine and mince pies!
Profits from the concert go to the C4WS Homeless Project
