As Yourself

As Yourself. It's a phrase that inherently involves self reflection. It's a mind set that pushes one out of a comfort zone and into new and exciting adventures. Started in 2004 by Vocalist Jacob Roper and Guitarist Tony Grissom under the name "Steadyfall," As Yourself plays a brand of alternative rock influenced by multiple genres. The branding of As Yourself occurred in 2007 when a solo project by Grissom began when Steadyfall went on hiatus. In 2013, Guitarist Craig Hollis, Bassist Cody Smith, and drummer Taylor Hankal joined the lineup with Roper coming back into the newly defined group as Vocalist in 2014. In 2015, Hankal and Smith left the group for personal reasons, bringing in Ty Downing to take up the role on drums and Hollis assumed the role of bassist. Kevin Youngblood then filled in the rhythm guitar position. As Yourself's influence include, among others, Silverchair, Stone Sour, Breaking Benjamin, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Chevelle, LoPro, Of Mice and Men, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Story of the Year, and 30 Seconds to Mars. In May 2015, the band went into the studio to begin writing their self titled record for release on October 23, 2015. Grissom served as both engineer and producer for the album, with Hollis engineering as well. After the October release of their self titled album, touring will commence across the southern regional states and expand across the U.S. Their single, "Rise of the Flatline," is available for free download on several sites and is trending across the southern region.
