About The Drakes
There are 2 bands with the name "The Drakes"
One is a garage rock band from Denton, Texas featuring ex-As I Am members Riley Tunnell (vocals,guitar), Zach Stone (vocals, bass), Wes Swim (keys, tambourine), and Mitch Tardif (drums). Following the split of their previous band, As I Am, the four never saw the creation of another band from the ashes of As I Am. After As I Am's last EP "Robopocalypse" was released, two members left Texas and the remaining four (now The Drakes), thought it best to take a break from one another. However a year later at a jam session for old time sakes, the four decided to come together once again and form a new band. Thus spawn The Drakes, a dirty American Rock and Roll band from Denton. The foursome is known equally for their erratic but up-beat shows as they are their music. They combine the early punk rock snarl of The MC5 with the charisma of James Brown and the Texas swagger of ZZ Top with pop sensibility of The Pixies and the attitude of The Who. All they want is for people to enjoy listening to their music and have a good time at their shows. They are truly an independent band and every aspect from production to promotion is covered by band members. Their first EP "Del Rio" is out now and it is free.
