DJ Sye Young

“I was placed on this earth to make people have a good time... Just watching me, I can make a deaf person dance.” Music and entertaining have always been intertwined passions for DJ Sye. As a kid watching his uncle disc jockey in Jamaica, he learned not to draw lines between genres but to think about the personality of each track and the power of the DJ to lend his vibe to the crowd. Watching visionary DJs White Shadow, Speed and Flipside helped Sye come into his own as a larger-than-life entertainer. Armed with an eclectic music library and contagious personality, Sye was recognized for his talent at Gen Art Chicago in 2006, and spun into the game. In no time he procured an immense following throughout the Midwest and solidified his place as one of Chicago’s imminent nightlife connoisseurs. No genre or stylistic influence is left untouched by Sye’s nimble fingers, which make him an ideal performer in any and every space. He transforms a night out into an all-body experience. Club goers, Ford models, NBA players, bat/r mitzvah guests, philanthropistsand people sweating at the gym all dig his engaging style and memorable personality. For Sye it is a living truth that music and DJ-ing spring from a common energy source. This dynamism has taken him from DJ-ing with Pauly D and spinning for Luol Deng and the Chicago Fire to holding down residencies at celebrity lounges in Chicago and becoming the official DJ for Ford Models. A veteran of the Chicago club scene, Sye has also performed for high profile charity events, toured the US extensively and hit the ones and twos in Mexico, Jamaica and Turks & Caicos. Beyond the DJ booth, Sye mentors up-and-coming DJs to expand their skill-sets and help them get their feet in the door of the Chicago club scene.
