About Deadbeats
The name "Deadbeats" or "the deadbeats" was or is at least used by three (or more) bands playing different music styles. The name 'The Deadbeats' is currently used by a popular touring Blackpool-Based covers band, having previously been used by a Manchester indie band (now called Ten Bears).
The downtempo Nottingham band Deadbeats consist of Damian Stanley and Ged Day. They have been featured on acclaimed compilations by the likes of Mr. Scruff and Nightmares on Wax. They are DJ's originally from the days of The Garage in Nottingham. Damian has engineered for the likes of Strictly Rhythm, UMM, Warp, Junior Boys Own, Chrissie Hynde and more. They are presently recording an album for Nightmares on Wax's label Wax On Records...

There is also an electronica act going by the name of Deadbeats. Based in the north west of england....

The oldest band with this name was "the DEADBEATS" from the early L.A. punk scene. Before the rules were written about how punks should sound or dress, these guys defined in 1978 the sheer creativity of what “punk” music could be.
The band released only one 7-inch called "Kill the hippies" The title track is still a punk classic. The singer was young when he recorded this record. He later founded a solo project called "Geza-x".
