Maligno

English: Maligno was born in Monterrey Mexico in 2005 by 5 musicians with a long standing career in Mexican and international scenes, with the solely desire to take back the very roots of heavy music. They recorded their first self-titled album "MALIGNO" (2006, Iguana & Asenath records) which gives them recognition in Mexico and receiving general praise with national and international press because of their outstanding work. Soon after Maligno takes part in Mexico’s most important metal festivals alongside bands such as: UDO, BLIND GUARDIAN, CATHEDRAL, MAGO DE OZ, DEICIDE, and OBITUARY, which led to be selected to support the Mexican leg of hard rock legends GUNS N ROSES, getting outstanding reviews for their live shows as well. In 2008 the band releases its second album " UNIVERSEVIL" (Iguana & Asenath records) recorded and mixed by the band again and mastered by Alan Douches (MASTODON, HIGH ON FIRE, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN) which was selected on the 2008 top 10 albums by a Latin artist list by Rolling Stone magazine Latin America and on several best albums of that same year alongside mainstream artists. Also won the best independent metal album by the Indie-O Music awards (which recognizes the best in independent music in Mexico) and invited to perform live in the awards ceremony as well been invited to play at the 2009 Vive Latino festival in Mexico city which is the most important music festival in Latin America and sharing the stage in different festivals with bands as : Testament, Voivod, Children of Bodom, Atheist, Samael, Whiplash, Death Angel, Fear Factory, Amorphis, Uli John Roth, etc. Recently the band has been invited to support Metallica on their Mexican leg of the Death Magnetic 2010 tour along with Mastodon and supporting Iron Maiden in Mexico for the Final Frontier tour 2011.its 2011 Maligno third album "THE FUNERAL DOMINE"that puts the band in the international spot, features very special collaborators as Alex Scholnik from TESTAMENT, and the mexican guitar duo RODRIGO Y GABRIELA, this time the album was mixed by American producer and engineer Billy Anderson(THE MELVINS, NEUROSIS, CATHEDRAL)in L.A. and again mastered by the great Alan Douches in N.Y. MALIGNOare srtonger than ever playin in the most important festivals in Mexico such the MAQUINARIA FEST 2012 sharing the stage with MASTODON, MARYLIN MANSON AND SLAYER.The band its right now in the begining of a 30 dates tour in the U.S.A. for 2013 , MALIGNO its stronger than ever and ready for start the process for their fourth album for 2014. ______________________________________________ Español: Maligno nace en Monterrey N.L. México en el año de 2005, formado por 5 músicos con una larga trayectoria musical en el ámbito del rock nacional e internacional, con el único deseo de retomar las raíces del rock pesado tomando como bandera a los grandes clásicos del género.Graban su primer material homónimo (Maligno, Iguana /Asenath Records 2006), que los da a conocer en todo el país, así como recibir reconocimientos tanto por la prensa nacional, e internacional por su gran trabajo, logrando captar la atención del público. Participando en los mas prestigiosos festivales de metal en México a lado de grandes exponentes internacionales como: UDO, Blind Guardian, Cathedral, Mago de Oz, Deicide, Obituary y ser seleccionados por la leyenda del hard rock Guns N Roses como la banda telonera de su gira por México recibiendo excelentes críticas y reconocimiento en su corta carrera, es en el año 2008 cuando se edita su segundo material ( Universevil, Iguana / Asenath Records 2008) que fue masterizado por Alan Douches (Mastodon, High On Fire, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Baroness) el cual los lleva a ser nombrados por la revista Rolling Stone México entre los 10 mejores discos latinos del 2008, así como el mejor disco de metal del año por la prensa especializada, los lleva a ganar el Indie-o music Awards (que premia a lo mejor de la industria independiente) a mejor disco de metal y a su vez estar actuando a la gala para su presentación en vivo, así como estar en el cartel de la décima edición del vive latino, el festival mas importante en Latinoamérica por excelencia participando en festivales con bandas internacionales de la talla de :Testament, Voivod, Children of Bodom, Atheist, Samael, Whiplash, Death Angel, Fear Factory, Amorphis, Uli John Roth, etc. Así como apareciendo en la película "Como no te voy a querer" (Víctor Avelar, 2008) con el tema "Lies" en el soundtrack así como en 2 escenas de la película. Y recientemente invitados a compartir el escenario con Metallica y Mastodon en su mas reciente gira Death Magnetic tour 2010 en Guadalajara y Monterrey, asi como invitados como banda de soporte para el paso por mexico de la gira THE FINAL FRONTIER de IRON MAIDEN en el 2011, año en donde la banda estrena material bajo el nombre de: THE FUNERAL DOMINE, album conceptual que cuenta con las grandes colaboraciones de Alex Scholnik de TESTAMENT asi como de el duo de guiarras acusticas mexicano RODRIGO Y GABRIELA, este album pone a ala banda en el ojo de la critica internacional y mientras siguen tocando en mexico en los mejores festivales de rock, estan en estos momentos en la primera parte de mas de 40 fechas que tienen para los Estados Unidos de America.
