Award winning Newcastle singer/songwriter Kristy James is gearing up to release her second EP titled “Raw’. Co-Produced with her husband, James has worked on creating a product that she feels represents who she is not only as an artist but who she is a person. Penned for release June 15th 2018 through Social Family Records, the first single, ‘Dark Sunglasses’, released in March earned the #4 spot on the Australian Country Music iTunes Country singles Chart.
Kristy has had continued success and continues to receive accolades for her work. In 2016 James was announced the winner of the Country section at the 2016 Australian Songwriters Association Awards– the country’s largest and longest running competition (over 30 years!) in which Kristy outclassed thousands of entries to take home the title, she was also awarded the PPCA (Phonographic Performance Company Of Australia) Best Live Performance Award of 2016.
The following year Kristy yet again won the 2017 Australian Songwriters Association Awards – Country Section, she was also awarded the PPCA (Phonographic Performance Company Of Australia) Best Live Performance Award of 2017.
2016 also saw Kristy release 2 singles – ‘All Alone’ & ‘Friends Like You’ that both peaked at #2 on the iTunes Top Songs chart, the same year Kristy was also named a Top 5 finalist in the Musicoz Australian Independent Music Awards - country category.
Kristy has spent the past 2 years working double time on her career, spending time in Los Angeles working with President of 65amps, Dan Boul, working on her live show as well as honing her craft as a songwriter and then came home to tour with her band playing all over NSW and Queensland, she played many of her own shows as well as festivals, Bns Balls, Truck and Ute Shows and many more solo shows.
Kristy has no plans of slowing down in 2019, heading over to Nashville in late 2018, Kristy plans to record her first album which Kristy will continue to evolve her ‘sound’ ‘I spend much time not only as an artist but also as a songwriter honing my craft with the goal of creating a product that I feel will be recognised and identifiable as my sound’.
Kristy’s debut EP ‘Nobody’s Gonna Make Me’ was extremely successful, funded by a successful Pozible Campaign, 2 of the 4 songs reached the top 50 Country Music Channel countdown. The EP has been very popular with not only Australian country music radio but also receiving a great amount of support in the USA and Europe. Her first single Overdrive, has also been included on 3 different ABC compilation discs, ‘Women in song – A Celebration of Great Australian Female Artists’, ‘Beaute Ute 2013’ and ‘Hit Country - Ultimate Party’.
Kristy successfully manages her social media platforms, with over 8k facebook followers over 3.5k Instagram followers and 2k Twitter, Kristy has a growing, loyal fanbase who are ready to support her and follow her journey.
