About Black Nevada

Black Nevada are a five piece alternative rock band hailing from the North East of England, formed 20th January 2012. Unleashing music that is filled with high octane energy, heavy breakdowns, catchy riffs and hooks that will get you singing in no time!
Writing and performing our own material is what we have believed in since forming the band, with each member having different influences and input into the music we play. This allows us to be diverse and create a style that is quite specific to ourselves.
Within the first 2 years, we have signed to Red Dragon Records, which we feel is a massive achievement and gives us great expectations of what we can accomplish in the future. We have also played venues/ events such as the 02 Academy main stage, 02 Academy 2 and Make a Scene festival. Within these events, we have played alongside I Divide, Mallory Knox, Bury Tomorrow, Blitz Kids, Neck Deep, Hacktivist, Funeral for a Friend, The Blackout and many more. All of which are a massive influence on us. We have recently just completed a substantial UK tour 2015

Jordan Bailey –Rhythm guitarist lead singer
I never really took an interest in music until I was the age of 15, after seeing Anthony(former bassist) at school with his guitar. I was always the type of person that would be more into football and the sporty side of things, so becoming a musician was something that was really unexpected. In my early years of playing, I only really listened to Blink 182. Which was why me and Anthony got on so well. He taught me how to play and we were both huge fans of Blink. My taste in music has developed a lot. I prefer a more heavier edge instead of the pop punk I used to love. I first met George and Cameron(former drummer) at college on the music course. When I first listened to George play guitar, I was like holy crap, this guy can play! And my first impression of Cameron was, what a random guy. Haha. Cameron is a different drummer to many others. I hear a lot of the same beats out there but Cameron likes to work his way around the kit. He’s quick and very tight, which is why I wanted him in the band. So really it all just started from there. We are all commited, got along well, love music and just enjoy what we together as a band, and hopefully it stays like this for a very long time.

George Tait- lead guitar
I’ve always been into music one way or another. I mainly got into rock from my dad who is a big iron maiden fan and so I started to listen. From then I’ve just found more and more bands that I enjoy listening to. This is where my passion for music and playing instruments came from, so after a while of playing guitar, I obviously wanted to start playing in a band. Before I was in Black Nevada I was in a cover band but always aspired to write my own music. When I started college I met Jordan and Cameron (former drummer) who were just starting a band so they asked if I wanted to join and it started from there. The mash of music tastes actually work very well, with Jordan’s pop punk background with blink 182, and my taste of heavier music really works for the band. I love being in the band and love gigging with the guys, makes it all worthwhile when people start noticing you a bit more :’)

Sarah Davies - Drums
So, where to start? Hey, I'm Sarah and I play drums. I've always been into music. My Mam and Dad would always have contrasting tastes. My Dad would listen to hair metal one day and Mam would be listening to Led Zeppelin the next. Music is pretty much in me - My Dad plays Guitar, my Grandad plays Drums. So, I'm guessing the Guitar has skipped a generation and the Drums have fallen on me. I have been playing drums for nearly 6 years now. I'm also in a Metallica Tribute Band, which means playing with Black Nevada gives me a chance to really be creative musically and think about what I'm playing. I've known the guys for a few years since I joined the same Music course as them at college. If any girls wanted to get into playing a musical instrument, I would recommend it highly.

Joe Metcalfe - Rhythm Guitarist
I was an additional member to join Black Nevada (originally 4 piece), I found it a great privilege to join the band. I've all ways had a fascination with music but I decided to take it into practice at the age of 16 when I borrowed my friends guitar, ever since I've been teaching myself how to play and also took a college course. That is where I met Jordan, George was already a good friend. The chemistry within a band and playing live has all ways been such a great feeling that I have all ways wanted to experience and playing with these great guys it just feels so good that we can just go off the rails when playing.

Jonny Moor - Bass Guitarist
I was definitely a latecomer with music. Well, that's not completely true. I think my parents might have listened to an Abba song once, so there's that lol. When I was about 12, I was over my cousins and he was playing a cassette in his room. It was Led Zeppelin. I'd never heard such testosterone fueled music in my life. I was hooked. Obviously, at that age, girls suddenly seemed very interesting, so I had the necessary motivation to learn guitar. After a while, it stopped being about that and was more about discovering different kinds of music. I eventually learned bass guitar and also started drumming. It was during my college days that I got to know Jordan and also Joe. I was in a band at that point, playing guitar and singing. About 3 years after the band stopped being together, I was thinking of giving up on music. Then came Jordan, asking if I'd like to try out as bassist for Black Nevada. Without a moments hesitation (I refused and he burst into tears. That's when the death threats started.) I said yes :)
