About Morgan Bain

There is something irresistible about the million-dollar voice of Morgan Bain. Even if you come from a record collection that is as far on the fringes of music as it gets, there is the instantly-recognisable DNA of authenticity to Morgan Bain that ensnares pretty much everyone. This is in no small part due to Bain's ability to navigate the waters of commercial music in such a way that keeps him clear of hitting an iceberg. He is an alternative artist painting with the most enriched palette of his day.

Dark Soul is a chapter of music currently being written. Espousing the excitement of the new with the requisite must-haves of the past, it is part of an echo passing itself down through the timeline of music. When looking back at this time, Morgan Bain's contribution will be evident. Already he is recognised as being a special artist, accumulating a swag of accolades and awards in his brief career. Since first taking home gold in 2011, Morgan has won six West Australian Music Industry Awards (an absolute rite of passage in his hometown of Perth) and has a mantelpiece full of international songwriting awards.

Being able to write a perfect pop song, then also sing it like a veteran superstar, is a stellar combination. All of the things that can be taught – song structure, scales, vocal control – Morgan Bain executes to a top level, but it is all of the things that can not be taught that make him exceptional... the sweet-yet-smoky timbre to his voice, the perfection of his melodies, or the shadowy tones to his delivery.

His latest single, Summed It Up, finds Morgan Bain in impeccable form. Built around an impossibly catchy, bitter-sweet chorus, Summed It Up undulates from delicate, gentle moments to full power within a breath. Every depth and high of Morgan's voice is on display as the song ebbs back, then powers home in a torrent. Each of the song's hooks is pure Soul; from the sing-along chorus melody, to its lyrical hook, to its beat and bass line.

Beautifully produced by Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe, Meg Mac, Little Birdy), Summed It Up is the first single from Morgan Bain's hotly-anticipated second (as yet unnamed) EP. A captivating musical journey, the EP builds upon everything in Morgan's expansive musical bag of tricks, giving each little brilliant spark its chance to turn into something grand and epic. By the time the record arrives at its conclusion, even a non-believer would find themselves at a point where they simply can't argue. Morgan Bain is easily one of the world's most promising new talents, leading a vanguard of artists who are taking music from where it is, to where it is going to be.
