About Satoyama

Satoyama, founded in 2013, brings togheter four musicians focused on different styles, that seek to create a border music.


Deeply influenced by the north european jazz, the contemporary classical music and the world music they try to combine all the contaminations as one.

Luca Benedetto and Christian Russano studied with masters Casati, Mandarini, Brunod and Russo in the Turin Conservatorium; strongly influenced by the African, oriental music and the Nordic jazz. They try to focus themselves in musical canvas and reaching new sounds.

Gabriele Luttino graduated in classical percussions in the Turin Conservatorium have studied drums with the masters M. Barbiero and M. Volpe. He played with many contemporary and chamber ensambles as percussionist and jazz and rock formations as drummer.

Marco Bellafiore learner of F. Di Castri try an play in an unconventional way as jazz double bassist, he figure out many innovative tricks and try to bring new sounds at the double bass. He’s very attentive at the new jazz and post jazz ensambles.

Their inspiration comes from many artists such as Jan Garbarek, Esbjorn Svensson Trio, Miles Davis, Bernardo Sassetti, Eivind Aarset and others…


In 2013 they won a contest for record the soundtrack for a TvSeries produced by the Lisbona University.

In 2014 won the “under 30” contest organized by Barolo Jazz Club.

In 2015 they realeased their album “Spicy green cube” well received by the critics.

In 2016 an intense live activity starts in jazz clubs and clubs in all the north Italy, in June are contacted to participate in the fest Jazzit(magazine) festival.

In 2016 they set off on a tour in northern Europe where will touch many cities in Sweden and Denmark. Will collaborate with the Swedish saxophonist Jonny Wartel and recorded an album coming out in 2017.

In December 2016 Satoyama won the 1st prize for the #TasteofJazz contest organized by the Novara Jazz Club.



After two year of activity they partecipated to the Euro Open Jazz festival and Open World Jazz Festival in Ivrea, Pianfiorito Jazz opening Enrico Rava, Masada jazz club, Santeria social club, Barolo jazz Club, Turin jazz festival, Novara jazz festival, Jazzit fest, Turin jazz club, Mandagsklubben, BrÖtz club.
