With one foot planted firmly in rock’s proud history, and the other charging forward from Sydney’s inner west, Release the Hounds strike a formidable balance between the take-no-prisoners attitude of the past, and a relentless drive to make their own unique mark on the Australian rock n’ roll landscape. With an emphasis on what makes rock music truly timeless- passion, joy, and heaped servings of volume- Release the Hounds conjure up a brand of hard rock that is like a finding a new drinking buddy- a cheeky new habit that somehow feels oh-so-familiar. Never satisfied with simply tearing up the local pubs, Release the Hounds possesses a dogged drive rarely seen in a group so young. Since their 2010 formation, the Hounds could often be found road tripping down to rural Victoria, or shooting over to Adelaide, often at a moment’s notice. This 5 piece backs itself, and dives right in. After a string of successful EP releases, February 2016 sees Release the Hounds again upping the ante on their hard won reputation, touring nationwide on the back of new single ‘Jada’. If this hard driving ode to a local gentleman’s club dancer is any indication, the 2016 release of the band’s debut album is one every rock fan should keep an eye out for.
