About Full Armor Band

“So many faces / But none the same” … As the opening lyric from their new album , the statement rings true for Full Armor Band as they pave their way in the inspirational music scene with their unique sound and mission that has helped set them apart as one of the most promising bands on the rise. This band of best friends features the ensemble style vocal harmonies of Tara Lakeman, Kyle Hancharick (acoustic guitar), and Douglas Q. Hutchings (keyboards), the tasteful electric guitar style of Francis Zelinka, the natural groove of Matt Juliano on drums, and the occasional violin harmony from Matthew Lee. Now, after seven years of making music and touring together, the band is stepping forward with a new sound on their latest release, None the Same. With musical influences ranging from modern folk to early blues, and inspiration from some of their most revered songwriting pros like Paul Simon, Ingrid Michaelson and David Wilcox, it is no surprise that Full Armor is feeling right at home with their new sound. "We got our start playing church when we were still in high school,” explains Hutchings, who founded the band in 2005. “With the style of music that you are expected to play in that setting, it's easy to get pulled into making a sound that isn't always authentic. ‘Contemporary Christian Music’ is only genre out there that is defined by its lyrical content rather than its sound. Our goal for this record was to share the stories and insights from our spiritual journey with a fresh sound that showcases the band's unique personality and range of influences." Driven by acoustic guitar, and their signature three part "gang" style vocals, Full Armor shows listeners a new side on None the Same. From the swinging “Let Me Sow Love” to the encouraging and uplifting “Lead Me to the Light” and “Light of the World," the band radiates youth and positivity with their latest project. Another stand out track is thoughtful and provoking “What I Pray About," which was written following the heartbreaking shooting that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, CT in December 2012. “This song asks big questions about evil and tragedy in our world,” notes guitarist Francis Zelinka. “It’s so natural to say ‘Where were you God!?’ …when something horrible happens. The song reminds us that God wants us to ask him those tough questions and embrace his comfort while we seek answers". Full Armor formed over seven years ago when the band was asked to lead music for a new youth Mass in their hometown of Middletown, NY. Over time, the band slowly began to receive invites participate in other Christian/Catholic ministry events in their region. All of their hard work and determination paid off in 2008 when they were asked to perform for Pope Benedict XVI's youth rally in New York City in front of 25,000 young people. Today, Full Armor continues to share their music and ministry at parish and diocesan concerts and conferences nationally. Their greatest joy is seeing God change the lives of the young people with whom they get to share in ministry. "It’s been exciting for us to see the youth we work with grow in their faith and relationship with God over time!,” says drummer Matt Juliano. “It's important for us to remember that no else one has the same talents, flaws, and life experiences. Those differences are what God uses to give us all unique and individual purpose for our lives." www.fullarmorband.com
