"The People's Soprano" - Evening Press. Whoever first said that you don't choose music, music chooses you, was right in my case! I began singing 'properly' at 14, but have always sang since I could talk (or even a bit before!). I was a keen musical theatre performer as a teenager then I gave most of it up when I started working after my A Levels. I returned to music when I went back into education to do a degree at York University (not in music!). An urgent need to make some money as an independent, mature student prompted me to set up as a professional singer. From there I just felt my way through by singing at weddings, taking lessons again, recording a CD and street performing. After I graduated I made music my main career (takes some bravery I can tell you) and now I sing full time all over the UK and, increasingly, aboard. I have 5 CDs in my discography now (and one no longer in stock) after releasing my first chart eligible album in Sep 14, which went straight to number 1 in the UK official classical albums chart. It is called Dare to Dream and features live orchestra. I raise money for Childline and have already surpassed £8,000. It's a great charity and always needs money and volunteers, so check it out at www.nspcc.org.uk. I also undertook my first UK venues tour in 2012, with some final dates spilling over into 2013, fundraising for the RNLI as I go. My debut single was also released while on tour (Nov 2012) and was very well received, adding to the fundraising for the charity.
