About The Black Rose Phantoms
From the very beginning The Black Rose Phantom’s own take on music was one that was never heard before. Taking a mixture of traditional Psychobilly music (made popular in Europe during the 1980’s), along with various influences from Metal, Punk and Country/Rockabilly Genres. Based out of Long Beach, CA The Black Rose Phantoms formed in late 2002. With only a short 8 months the band was asked to join Hellcat Records very own Nekromantix as they ventured on a West Coast Tour. Within the months that followed, the band found themselves in the studio recording their "Far From Heaven" demo. Once pressed and ready for promotion the band caught yet another opportunity as they went on the their second major tour, this time in support of American psychobilly legends Tiger Army. The tour helped the band branch out to new regions such as the South and Mid-West of the United States. Lead vocalist Ozzy also had the pleasure of providing vocals on Tiger Army's "Ghost Tigers Rise" Release. With the coming of 2007, The Black Rose Phantoms released their much anticipated full length album "Beyond the Wall of Sleep" on independent record label Smelvis Records owned by: Elvis Cortez (Left Alone/ Transplants). In support of the album the band set off on there 3rd major tour playing in such legendary venues as The House of Blues (Anaheim, Hollywood), El Corazon (Seattle), The Venue (Salt Lake City), and The Catalyst (Santa Cruz). Later on that year the band recorded an exclusive track "Love you more dead" for the film "Cannibal Flesh Riot" and later released the "Love You More Dead EP" that includes cover songs from Rancid and AFI. The band spent the next few years reinventing their sound and writing music for their follow up full length album titled "Among Dead Men" released in 2012 with Smelvis Records. The album features a broad variety of genres such as Metal, Melodic Punk, Psychobilly and Country music. With the release, the band ventured on a tour promoting the album covering the westcoast and Mid West of the U.S. Earlier in the year the band had the pleasure of doing support for 80's metal legends L.A Guns, and The Quakes, and Nekromantix among others. Also been featured in magazines such as Scratch, Deadbeat, and Savage Tattoo. Following the 2011 Earthquake BRP was asked to be featured in Japanese compilations "Punkabilly Shakes The World" (Vol 1. & 2) to help in the disaster. With the success of country songs in the bands albums "Our Last Sunrise" (Beyond The Wall of Sleep) and "The Pistol & The Heart", "Beyond The Purple Hills" (Among Dead Men) they decided on releasing a album only consisting of Country Roots Music. In late 2013 BRP headlined a tour playing music that will be in the 2014 album to be released later in the year. The band will be playing dates with Country singer Bob Wayne in the spring and heading to Tennessee for The Muddy Roots Festival in support of their new material. Catch the band at a city near you.
