Totally Tina

TOTALLY TINA was formed in March of 2008, Justine had been working as a solo tribute to Anastacia since her winning appearance on ITV’s “Stars In Their Eyes” in 2002 and was invited to the biggest tribute festival held in England, GLASTONBUDGET.
The festival was for bands only (No backing tracks at all) which posed a problem. So Justine searched her hometown Liverpool for a well-established band to help her out.
A good friend of Justine’s , Simon (Keyboards), introduced her to some of the band members his father used to work with, the famous Liverpool group THE UNDERTAKERS.
Geoff (bass guitar), Jimmy (lead guitar & vocals), Corin (drums) and Simon (keyboards) all decided to give it a go.
After months of rehearsal JUST ANASTACIA was born. A 60min show of Anastacia’s hits for Glastonbudget.
The festival in March was a massive success (apart from the usual English weather).
After the show, and with Anastacia’s popularity waning, the group sat down and asked the question “Would this show work with another character?”.
Justine’s solo work was proving to her that the most consistently popular character in her repertoire was the “Queen of Rock and Soul”, Ms. Tina Turner.
Although there were several solo Tina Turner tribute artists around, none of them were trying to recreate the spectacle of a genuine live “Tina” show.
Such a big character demanded a big show, so the band recruited young and talented multi-instrumentalist/singer David Gorst, and a troupe of professional dancers. That’s when TOTALLY TINA was born.

There followed months of rehearsal with the band and dancers to get the show looking and sounding like a real Tina Turner show; sound and lighting engineers were brought on board to help bring the show to a bigger audience, and after a number of shows at smaller venues to fine-tune the show, Totally Tina embarked on a tour of UK theatres.
The show was incredibly well received and had audiences dancing in the aisles at every performance, leading to The UK Agents Association awarding their prestigious Gold Award to Totally Tina as “The Official UK No. 1” Tribute to Tina Turner.

The show continues to go from strength to strength, with up to 15 performers, including a full brass section and backing vocalists available for the largest venues.

Our next goal is to take the show further afield, to Europe and the rest of the world, with the aim of becoming the World’s No. 1 tribute to Tina Turner, and hopefully receiving an endorsement from the legend that is Tina herself!
