About Brett Copeland

"Brett Copeland's energy, vocal execution and stage presence...is everything you'd expect to see out of the frontman of a rock band, but without the pretension"
-Music Connection Magazine, Los Angeles

Known as a "A high energy, powerful and electrifying singer with staggering stage presence, outstanding vocal range and anthemic songwriting skills", Brett Copeland is the epitome of an authentic rock and roll artist.

As a former singer in the church choir, English literature major, self-taught musician, and consummate problem child, Brett Copeland has overcome the deepest, darkest recesses of human nature and is here to sing about it.

After gravitating toward recklessness and perpetual trouble, hitchhiking for years without a home across America with his journal and guitar, Brett ultimately gathered his few belongings and moved back to Southern California. Rather than continue the life of an outlaw, Brett took his talents and replaced old habits with mastering his craft and “putting in the work”.

Soon after, Brett found himself working with some of the biggest producers in the world, including the likes of Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, The Cars), Dave Jerden (Alice In Chains, Jane’s Addiction, The Rolling Stones) and Val Garay (Dolly Parton, Elton John).

After writing and recording with multiple bands in Los Angeles, Brett has taken his singing, songwriting and multi-instrumental skills to another level, and has finally embarked on his own solo career.

Brett has recently finished co-producing his debut EP at Matt Sorum’s Drac Studios in Los Angeles, California. Bound by the motto “Only The Best” – Brett hand picked his close friends Ramon Blanco (Grandson, Disciples Of Babylon) Daniel Curcio (Palaye Royal, Beware of Darkness) and Richard Bradley (Dead Posey) to record his vibrant new songs which are scheduled for release spring 2020.

As a former English literature major and self-taught musician, Brett began singing in the church choir at the age of eight. Always a “problem child with a surplus of energy”, the death of his mother at such young age catapulted him into a dramatic, reckless life of abandonment, hard core drug use and chaotic behavior. By 17 years of age he had already moved 25 times and lived in five different states. He constantly found his way into trouble. The private Jesuit school he attended was forced to kick him out regardless of his academic and athletic accomplishments. Brett soon found himself making a living smuggling drugs across the Mexico-Arizona border and was the only kid in his new public school that had his own apartment…until it was raided by the police.

Brett moved in with a friend whose parents took pity on him and graduated from high school and attended college at Arizona State University, but his party lifestyle and reckless abandon took its toll. He was kicked out of his friend’s house for selling drugs. He was president of his fraternity but was kicked out soon after for yet another drug raid/ arrest. Subsequently, Brett gathered his few belongings and his acoustic guitar and bought a one way bus ticket back to Southern California.

Thus began a ten-year journey riddled with incarcerations, drug busts, long and dangerous hitch-hiking trips up and down the coast, sleeping in parks, on beaches, strangers floors and women’s beds, all the while singing and writing music on his acoustic guitar.

Finally, a friend whom he was couch surfing at in Venice Beach, suggested he should audition for his commercial agent in Hollywood and “do something with his life and talents”. Brett took him up on his offer. It didn’t take long for Brett to book multiple national television commercials, TV spots and small bits in independent movies all the while sleeping on his new agent’s couch for over 2 years.

It was not, however, until Brett finally booked a high-paying starring role in a musical in Calgary, Canada that Brett realized the rewards of being a “working musician”. Brett soon took his talents and craft more seriously and replaced the old habits of drugs, skirmishes and chaotic encounters - with mastering his craft and “putting in the work”. Soon, Brett found himself working with some of the biggest music producers in the world, like Roy Thomas Baker (Queen, The Cars), Dave Jerden (Jane’s Addiction, Alice In Chains, The Rolling Stones) and Val Garay (Eric Burdon, Dolly Parton, Neil Diamond, Elton John)
