Holy Forest

Holy Forest is the brainchild of musician and filmmaker Jon Fine. Wearing a number of hats as producer, instrumentalist and songwriter, he enlisted friends and collaborators to play on this genre-blending recording project. The seeds of the sessions, spanning 3 years, were planted on a trip to the Makasutu Forest, a lush, green wilderness of mangrove swamps that line the River Gambia. While there, he connected with legendary griot Tata Din Din Jobarteh and the project was born. Holy Forest features Ed "Preachermann" Holley, Morley, kora master's Tata Din Din Jobarteh and Youssoupha Sidibe, Antibalas Horn's Martin Perna, Jordan Mclean and Stuart Bogie, BK afro punks No Surrender, and Bay Area singer Sparlha Swa. The 11 track LP coming in the fall was recorded in The Gambia, NYC, Woodstock and San Francisco. Cross continental roots music....
