The New London Big Band hits Hartford at the legendary blues bar Black Eyed Sally's as part of the Jazz Mondays series, presented by the Hartford Jazz Society and Neefjazz Entertainment.

At 7pm, opening for the band is the nationally recognized Hall High School Jazz Band from West Hartford.

At 8pm, NLBB hits the stage, playing 2 sets.

Led by trombonist Sean Nelson, The New London Big Band is a 17-piece jazz orchestra made up of the finest musicians in the Connecticut area and beyond. The members of the band have been playing together for many years, and the band was officially formed in 2016. The band plays a mix of jazz standards, classic ballads, big band era tunes, latin music, and modern jazz written by band members. Trombonist Sean Nelson is the bandleader. When not playing with the New London Big Band, he is an enlisted member of the U.S. Coast Guard, where he plays trombone and works as arranger for the Coast Guard Band. Originally from Dallas, TX, he holds music degrees from Sam Houston State University and the University of North Texas.

Directed by James Antonucci, The Hall High School jazz program has enjoyed a rich and storied tradition of excellence for nearly six decades! Established in 1958 under the leadership and vision of Bill Stanley, the jazz program has continued to be a nationally recognized institution. The band has repeatedly been a finalist at the Essentially Ellington Competition and Lincoln Center, tours Europe bi-annually, has performed at the White House, and has had many members chosen for the Nationally Grammy Jazz Ensemble.
