The Canadian Maven of punk-klezmer
The finest political stand-up in the biz

On the Decks:
Making you a musical offer you can't refuse already!

Chilli Fruied brings you a one-off special featuring the best in radical music and comedy.

Live on stage, Jewish-Canadian singer/accordionist/novelist Geoff Berner dragging klezmer kicking and screaming back to the bars where it belongs! For the past 15 years or so, he's travelled the world, garnering a sizable, passionate following of odd, bookish people who like to drink. Clever and literate, Berner's songs can make you want to weep, laugh, grind your teeth, or kick out a window--often all at the same time. His writing can be overtly political, overtly left wing, leaning towards anarchy, but free of easy slogans or cliches.

It's rare for a musician to be as good at writing prose as making music. Berner can credibly make that claim. His recently published second novel
The Fiddler Is A Good Woman has been receiving praise in all quarters. As has his latest album Canadiana Grotesquica

Tonight's token gentile, Jeremy Hardy is our finest stand-up comic. Performing his one-man shows in theatres up and down the country and stealing the show on various BBC Radio 4 comedy programmes including The News Quiz and I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue. As well as writing and presenting his own Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation and (most recently) Jeremy Hardy Feels It. He's written books, appeared in films and generally made the world a better, funnier and more intelligent place.

On the decks, The Kosher Nostra DJs AKA Jamie Renton and Norman Druker, spinning a tuchas-shaking selection of klezmer, Jewish jazz, kosher blues and circumcised soul.
