Art show (7pm) and EDM Festival (8pm) hosted by Pop Culture Icon Gabe Smith at the Rochester Performance & Arts Center. Only $5 at the door.The Rochester Performance & Arts Center (RPAC) is located at 32 North Main Street, Rochester NH, 03867. Cash bar. Patrons 18 and under must be escorted by an adult. Artist Statement: "It is my goal with this exhibit to showcase my artwork and electroic music, bring hope and creativity to the city. I want to make an effort to inspire the young people of the community through art and music." Show Description: This show will feature a variety of large scale paintings constructed from acrylics, metals, plastics, l.e.d.s and gold & silver leaf. aswell as an unique style of electronic music bringing an up-lifting experience to all who attend with music and visuals that will inspire and enlighten. Artist Bio: Gabe Smith Pop Culture Icon reaches out to the electronic music scene with fresh zeal and comes up the all original compositions combined with psychedelic visuals. Incorporating art music with newer experimental styles creating intriguing, tracks, Gabe's devotion to his art led to this musical hybrid. Using beat machines, keyboards, midi sequencers and synthesizers which developed into digital recording arranged by composing unique electronic instrumental fusion.He has played at Rock the Block and Reach the Beach in Boston's North Shore area along with many summer block parties and summer fests through out New England. A few sets at the Middle East down stairs, Cambridge, UNH Durham EDM Fests, PSU Fests in Plymouth NH and U-Mass Lowell college radio stations. Gabe Smith Pop Culture Icon spends the majority of his time at his home recording studio in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. On the artist side, Gabe is a self-taught, non-traditional artist. Originally from Lynn, MA, Smith now resides in the Lakes Region of NH. The unconventional artist uses a variety of mediums and surfaces. He rarely uses brushes, instead opts to use a vibrant combination of colored acrylics, metals, plastics and gold & silver leaf. His work is universal and abstract in nature with a focus on space and time. Smith explains his work in this way: "My work is created in a complex process of layering multiple paintings, which include hidden parts that appear to glow, depending on the lighting of the room and the time of day the piece is viewed." Smith concentrated on Graphic Arts at Spaulding High School and graduated in 2010. He competed in the Gutenberg awards competition and won the award for Multi-color Lithography in 2009. Gabe has participated in the "Art at the Gafney" fundraiser for the past 8 years and won the award for "Best in Show" in 2016 and "Best in Abstract" in 2017. Smith spends most of his time at his recording studio and touring around New England, working with the young people in the area who struggle with depression, heroin abuse and suicide. His main focus is to provide a positive message through his art and electronic music; lighting up the darkness in anyway possible.

Influences: Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Matisyahu Gabe Smith Pop Culture Icon reaches out to the electronic music scene with fresh zeal. Influenced by the house/trance mixes of Chicago's Bad Boy Bill and Richard Humpty Vision and DJ Shadow.Gabe Smith Pop Culture Icon reaches into Pink Floyd past and comes up the all original compositions combined with psychedelic visuals to reach the masses of electro/house people. Gabe Smith Pop Culture Icon's knowledge of the electronic music is well beyond his years. Incorporating art music with newer experimental styles creating intriguing, compelling tracks, Gabe's devotion to his art led to this musical hybrid. Using beat machines, keyboards, midi secquiencers and synthesizers which developed into digital recording arranged by composing unique electronic instrumental fusion. Gabe Smith Pop Culture Icon developed his vinyl skills and played beats with hip hop artist Bobby Bishop, Hope records artist Mingo and Scott Free out of Atlanta. He has played at Rock the Block and Reach the Beach in Boston's North Shore area along with many summer block parties and summer fests through out New England. Opening set for The Wrecking and the Not for Sale Campaign... Played three years at" The Soul Fest", Gunstock Mountian in New Hampshire. A few sets at the Middle East "down stairs", Cambridge,MA. Late nights at UNH Durham, NH and U- Mass Lowell college radio stations.Gabe Smith Pop Culture Icon spends the majority of his time at his home recording studio in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Gabe Smith Pop Culture Icon graduated with a major in Graphic Design & Communications. In high school he won the Gutenberg award for International Graphic Designs. He has used his graphic art skills in his visual performances incorporating music with corresponding videos. Gabe also enjoys painting and began showing his early works in local art shows and sales from his paintings helped local libraries purchase computers and educational supplies He is also involved with charitable organizations such as the Gafney Library Save the Art Foundation. and the" Not for Sale", which is a group that works to end child slavery through out the world. He has also worked with the Walk For Water campaign that provides clean drinking water to the nations. Gabe Smith Pop Culture Icon's use of non-traditional instruments and theatrical visual performances to inspire and create music. This young artist takes an unorthodox approach to the production of music and fascinates his audiences both musically and visually. EDM / IDM Musician, Television Personality, Filmmaker, All around pretty ok guy in small doses.
