•Blanka• (QC) Montreal duo BLANKA spans many genres, from hard-hitting techno to lush ambiance, always employed with a sense of minimalism and intent. They released Yasuda in 2015, then The Maxim Remix EP shortly thereafter featuring remixes by MXLX (formerly of BEAK>) and She-Devils. After touring Europe extensively in the past two years the band will be going on USA dates in January. •Technophobia• (DC) Hailing from Washington, DC, Technophobia has emerged with a sound that reaches back to the early days of EBM and darkwave, yet continually pushes forward. Using hardware and analog synthesizers, Katie and Stephen use a classic approach of layering, sound manipulation, effect processing, and heavy sampling to create their unique sound. The keystone and defining quality of Technophobia is Katie’s vocals. While being melodic, powerful, and poetic they take a pop centric approach to their song writing setting them apart from most in their genre. •Den-Mate• (DC) The intimate music of Den-Mate—the latest project from DC songwriter/producer Jules Hale—is arresting, like peering into a funhouse mirror. Her sparse, dreamy jams reflect and distort private nighttime thoughts of desperation and isolation, transforming abstract fears into throbbing bass lines and static-washed riffs. Drawing a bridge from Babe City Records’ dreamy guitar pop and the exciting world of progressive electronica, Den-Mate brings a new style for adventurous listeners in DC and beyond. •Gingerlys• (BK) Gingerlys new self-titled record on Topshelf and Babe City Records on limited edition vinyl, cassette, cd and all digital formats. With vocalist/keyboardist Jackie Mendoza, drummer Brian Alvarez, guitarist Matt Richards, guitarist Colin O'Neill and bassist Kevin Doxsey, Gingerlys bring us their first full-length album and latest release since 2014's Jumprope. Gingerlys have crafted a beautiful album that immediately captures the listener in a trance. Mendoza's crystal smooth melodies cut through layers of fuzzed-out jangly guitars that create powerful dreamy gems that hook the listener. ~~~~~~~~~Please bring donations for the bands~~~~~~~~
