Her solo McMenamin's Edgefield Sun Celebration Series continues at the Edgefield Winery in Troutdale. A sweet and irreverent, intimate acoustic show in celebration of pagan sun rituals, or Sabbats. Always free, 7 - 9p, 21 and over MAY DAY/BELTAINE This is the time when sweet desire weds wild delight. The Maiden of Spring and the Lord of the Waxing Year meet in the greening fields and rejoice together under the warm Sun. The shaft of life is twined in the spiral web and all of nature is renewed. We meet in the time of flowering, to dance the dance of Life. The phallic Maypole dances take place May 1. Beltaine is the beginning of the Celtic Summer, the light season of the year. Like Samhain, it is a time when the veil is thin between the worlds, a time to communicate with spirits, particularly at this time nature spirits. The Sabbats are seasonal festivals which mark the turning of the Wheel of the Year and the cycles of nature. Most western pagans celebrate eight sabbats; the Summer and Winter Solstices, the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes and the quarter days or fire festivals - Samhain, Imbolc, Beltaine and Lughnasadh.
