Sunday, January 14th, 2018
4:00 PM
"Songs About Home" An early evening of booty shakin’, smiling and deep listening. This show is about losing home and finding it again. We're going to feature songs by Leah Shoshanah Music, James Abud (Abud: A Bard) and Adam Gottlieb & OneLove. Evening starts with a dance party with Adam Gottlieb and OneLove. Then some Abud: A Bard and the house band. And then... Leah sings a potpourri of originals and covers from around the world, experimenting with ensemble arrangements of new jazz tunes off of her upcoming EP, “Goodbye Night”. —————————————————— In a time of political chaos and natural disaster, there are so many who have had to leave their homes. I'm thinking of the folks in Puerto Rico, the ongoing exodus out of war-torn Middle Eastern countries, the California fire victims, earthquake victims in Mexico and Southeast Asia and, last but not least, gentrification. While we won't be singing tunes specifically about or from those areas, we're going to attempt to create a special musical space that helps us to feel at home (because we could all use a little of that right now). This show will feature tunes about HOME as a general concept. Featured musicians include Abud: A Bard (James Abud) on vocals/bass/guitar/Oud; Stevenson Valentor (Gramps The Vamp, Basel and the Supernaturals) on drums; and Adam Gottlieb (Adam Gottlieb & OneLove) on vocals/flute/backup vocals/percussion. Seating is limited to 30. If you're coming, RSVP on the Eventbrite page. Suggested $10-$20 donation, payable at the event. Doors at 4pm, show starts at 4:30pm. Refreshments will be available. Looking forward to creating a home with you for one evening!
