Jesse Daniel Edwards is an award-winning songwriter from the small mountain town of Julian, CA, USA and currently residing in East Nashville. As a child, Jesse and his 6 siblings grew up without television or video games and spent their time learning to harmonize along with gospel tracks while tinkering on hand me down instruments from their grandparents (JDE composed his first song at age 9 about his mother's meatloaf). Leaving home at 17, Jesse and his brother Luke spent their teens busking on street corners and subway platforms throughout the US and abroad, living and recording out of their 1974 orange VW bus. The pair eventually moved on to play the festival and university
circuits full-time with their group The Smart Brothers, releasing 5 recordings and performing with the likes of Jason Mraz, First Aid Kit, and John Prine. Since then, the seasoned acoustic duo has continued to travel, write, and share their love of vocal harmonies and clever lyrics. Known for their passionate singing and memorable hooks, the brothers' sound is infused with folk, pop, and a touch of soul. A recent review
described them as, storytellers in the tradition of Damien Rice and Hank Williams for a new generation seeking folk heroes, (SD Reader 2016). Their music has been featured in radio, TV, Netflix, and independent films and is available on Apple Music, Pandora, and Spotify.
