Jim Mullen guitar, Perico Sambeat alto sax, Mike Gorman organ, Stephen Keogh drums. One of the living legends of the guitar comes to the Jamboree for the first time. Jim Mullen was one of the musicians who led the British jazz fusion movement of the seventies. Born in Glasgow in 1946, Mullen has performed with almost all the greats of his era: he was part of Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express, confirming his credentials in the incipient jazz-rock culture. He later worked with Malcolm Duncan and Roger Ball of the legendary Average White Band and finally he established a prolific association with Dick Morrissey, which continued for 16 years, giving rise to seven albums ranging from bop to pop and funk. Today this giant of the six strings will form a trio with organist Mike Gorman and drummer Stephen Keogh, and they will be joined by the Valencian saxophonist Perico Sambeat, one of the most brilliant names on the sax in this country, to make an already historic evening even greater.
