Sweet Crystal is excited to bring our music and message to this great cause and (now) very Sweet event! Alien X Radio in conjunction with Forgotten Harvest of Southeastern Michigan brings you The 36 Hours Of Alien Xmas Radiothon to raise money to help feed the needy of Metropolitan Detroit and beyond. The event happens this year on December 9th and 10th, 2017 and features 36 consecutive hours of live radio featuring talk, live music, special guests and more. Local bands and personalities all coming together for a common cause... to combat hunger in the Motor City. All the money raised will go directly to Forgotten Harvest of Southeastern Michigan. Forgotten Harvest repurposes food from grocery stores, etc. by redistributing it to over 250 soup kitchens and shelters. They work with all the major chains including Meijer and Kroger. July 31st 2024
Lovely venue with great service and very intimate service. Sweet Crystal played a 90-minute set full of super original material followed by a short intermission and a 75-minute set in which they were joined by guest artists Noah Tatum, Peggy Turner-Carr, and David Winans II. Despite the fact that they were celebrating the 50th anniversary of the band, Sweet Crystal were absolute powerhouses throughout both sets, with Steve Wieser doing drum fills in every space and Marq Andrew Speck roaring out the vocals and dropping to his knees for wild keyboard solos, and at the end of it all they seemed less worn out than myself, who am much younger than the band, never mind its members. An unforgettable evening.

Sweet Crystal Biography
Winners of the twenty six Detroit Music Awards,
Sweet Crystal is a very rare group of musicians. Not only has the band remained in existence for over 4 decades, but also the core trio of MarQ Andrew Speck (lead vocals, keyboards), Bill Blatter (guitar,
vocals) and Steve Wieser (drums) has remained intact for the entirety of that time. Add to this powerhouse line-up Marty Kuchar on bass guitar and that’s a lifetime of quality hard, progressive rock music; of honing their skills as musicians and artists and generating a respectable fan base. Perhaps most importantly, a continuing quest refining their sound and standing on the front lines of the Michigan Christian rock scene, even before that particular branch of music had a name.
Over 40 years into their career, and the band are still reaching more and more people with their
message. 'We’ve always wanted to reach the world with the message in our music,' says Speck. 'Our
songs are meant to inspire and leave the listener feeling better about themselves and the direction their
lives can take.'
The music, message, mission and ministry continue and show no sign of slowing down any time soon.
Fun Fact: the band's latest single 'Whatever Is Needed, Whatever It Takes' has already been streamed over 201,000 times on Spotify and played over 153,000 times on their YouTube music channel. Sweet, very sweet indeed.
Welcome to the world of 5 Carat Rock.
