Friday December 8, 6:00 DOORS, 6:30 SHOW New Orleans Airlift is excited to host the Lost Bayou Ramblers once more for our second-to-last major orchestral show of 2017! We’re thrilled they’ve invited Jim Sclavunos from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, and a pioneer of NY No Wave music, as a new collaborator and special guest! Lost Bayou Ramblers’ new album celebrates the complex history and cultural diversity of Kalenda – a Caribbean dance, a Louisiana rhythm, a Cajun rock’n’roll song, and eventually, a woman’s name – that crossed the black-white and Creole-Cajun divides in many forms. The line-up of musicians is led by brothers Louis Michot (fiddle and lead vocals) and Andre Michot (accordion and lapsteel), joined by Bryan Webre (electric bass), Johnny Campos (electric guitar), Eric Heigle (electronics and acoustic guitar), and Kirkland Middleton (drums). Special guests on their Music Box performance will include Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds), Spider Stacy (Pogues), Leyla McCalla (Carolina Chocolate Drops), Jimmy Horn (King James & The Special Men), and avant-garde Cajun saxophonist Dickie Landry. $20 advance ticket/$25 at the show
