About this concert
Country-Motown Supergroup, Sweet Claudette, is back at MG Road for our last Asheville show of 2017. We've really cooked up something special for this one. One night only, we'll be joined by the one, the only, SWEET CLAUDETTE! That's right, Blues Hall of Fame singer, Sweet Claudette is flying into town to show us how it's done! After too many mix-ups on online radio, we've realized that something must be done to end the confusion of 2 Claudettes. We're surrendering all things Sweet Claudette to the OGQ (Original Queen), and we're announcing our name change THAT NIGHT to all who are there to hear it. Our Claudes will be with us, holding down all that is rhythm, and we'll be bursting at the seams to let you all in on our new moniker. OH! And we'll be debuting some VERY special new merchandise, too, so don't miss it!

Cowboy Judy Biography
Listen to our album here: SweetClaudette.Bandcamp.com!
Sweet Claudette is made up of members of some of the Southeast's favorite bands. Amanda Platt of The Honeycutters, Dulci Ellenberger of Now You See Them and Melissa Hyman of The Moon and You are joined in this WNC supergroup by Amber Lyle Sims. The seeds of Sweet Claudette were planted at a women's songwriter showcase in the fall of 2009. The four women had so much fun working up tunes for the show, they decided to form a band so they could keep singing and playing together.
Sweet Claudette's captivating sound is powered by 4- and 6-part harmonies, Motown-inspired backup vocals, and an unusual combo of acoustic instruments: cello, banjo, melodica and guitar. Multicolored kazoos sometimes make a brief appearance as well.
With the addition of hard-hitting rhythm section The Claudes (regional favorites Sav Sankaran on bass and Ryan Lassiter on drums), Sweet Claudette has built an even more fun, danceable and inspired retro sound. The November 2013 release of their long-anticipated EP For the Birds has won Sweet Claudette and the Claudes widespread recognition as a new band to watch in the Southeast.
The buzz about the band centers on their live shows. Every performance is a collaborative, energetic and hugely entertaining event. Band members pass the instruments around and switch leads, cracking up the crowd and one another.
Gorgeous harmonies, outstanding musicianship and world-class songwriting are the qualities that set Sweet Claudette apart from the crowd. What's more, they are very proud to be the only Country/Motown band they've ever heard of. With humor, warmth and consummate musicality, the ladies of Sweet Claudette hope to continue charming the pants off of audiences for many years to come.
