City Lore is delighted to present a screening of director Mathew Ramirez Warren's film, We Like It Like That, in an effort to raise funds for Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief through the Jazz Foundation of America. We Like it Like That tells the story of Latin boogaloo, a colorful expression of 1960s Latino Soul, straight from the streets of New York City. Join us afterwards for a reception including: Q&A with musicians Benny Bonilla, Joe Quijano, and others Light refreshments and drinks Music from DJ Turmix DONATIONS WELCOME All proceeds go to Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief!!!

DJ Turmix Biography
A native of Barcelona, Spain, and living in NYC since 2008, Carlos Vera aka DJ Turmix has been taking fans on unique musical journeys since 1994. DJ, music curator, producer and vinyl collector, Turmix specializes in rhythms with a funky flavor. The UK nightlife scene has been a longtime influence of his-and his areas of expertise range from 60s latin boogaloo, 70s funk, disco and rare groove to underground dance music. Turmix creates soundtracks that transport listeners to another place, showcasing his expertise on the turntables at “setting the mood” and selecting the perfect playlist to match any party or event.
Turmix has done it all over his 22+ year career, from playing at venues big and small around the world, to hosting radio shows-in Spain for 12 years, 2 years for Radio Lily at Miss Lilys Soho NY, and currently resides at Ethyl's and The Roxy Hotel in NYC. He also does a monthly podcasts for "The Monoloco Mixtape" show on London Soho Radio to mixing and curating music for exclusive private and consumer cutural/lifestyle events.
Over the years, he became official dj for Fania Records, and can be seen in a new documentary on the story of latin boogaloo "WE LIKE IT LIKE THAT".
