Cats On The Beach Biography
After walking London's charter'd streets six people intertwined to form the delightful orchestral indie music of Cats On The Beach. Their work has already attracted the attention of BBC introducing, PR giants Playground, producer Paul Tipler (Idlewild, 80s Matchbox) and Sentric Publishing, as well giving them a place under the wing of music charity Strummerville.
The band have been played on radio many times (BBC Radio London by Gary Crawley, BBC Radio Humberside by Neil Rudd, Route 66 Radio by Steve Lockwood, Shoreditch Radio, Croydon Radio…) and their singer Rob has performed alongside The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with a children’s orchestra based in East London. He has also played in the Strummer Subway to Joe Strummer’s friends at an event marking the 25th anniversary of the great man’s death, offended Damon Alburn and received persistent sex eyes from Scissor Sisters’ Jake Shears at V festival. In between these events he worked as a music teacher in various London schools and enjoyed the publication of his poetry and articles.
Expect powerful beautiful songs about depression, love and Amsterdam. Expect more about religion, racism and rented rooms. Enjoy the trumpets and violins. Spend days unravelling the multi-layered lyrics and isolating the individual instruments in the rich cascade that kisses your ears.
