Brilliant pianist Simone Dinnerstein performs two concertos, including the premiere of a Boulder Phil co-commission by Philip Glass, consciously inspired by Bach. Bach’s spirit also pervades the program through his G minor concerto and in a work by his son, struggling to both honor his father and assert his independence from him. Themes of forgiveness and redemption prevail in the lush, romantic Transfigured Night by Schoenberg, a man deeply influenced by Bach’s bold chromaticism and flawless voice leading.
