Strands of Rope is the brainchild of Saxophone player 8th Gate (Patrick Chavis) wanting to create a Hip-hop group with a strong progressive Jazz feel in Orange County, CA. Growing up listening to groups and artists like The Roots, Miles Davis, Nujabes, Black Star, Massive Attack, Guru and many more set the enthusiasm to create the group. Strands of Rope is the combined talent of Rapper Mike Booth, Drummer Eric Maiden, Saxophone 8th Gate (Patrick Chavis) Bass Luke Davis, Bass Crista M Bush, DJ Tonalli and Guitarist Andy Song. $10 Cover/ 21 and over The Mercury Wheel began their career as backing back to soul music legend Nolan Porter, for a very rare US appearance. Drawing from a range of influences, the band have since been building their reputation with shows across Los Angeles, including a recent performance on the Qvolé Collective/NanceArte Productions stage at Echo Park Rising. The Mercury Wheel, affectionately referred to as TMW, features vocalist/guitarist Clifton Weaver, of several notable LA bands including The Mojo Filters, The Belle Isle (featuring members of the Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Tyde), Love Grenades, and Stereo Action Unlimited. Front man Weaver has been a resident DJ at some of the most popular nights in the LA and Orange County scenes (Club Underground, Transistor, Funky Sole, and Club Rubbish). Former Sloths drummer and current Barrio Funky DJ, José Rendón and bassist Andrew Calara round out this power trio. TMW are currently in the studio, wrapping up finishing touches on their debut EP - to be released early 2018!" bobby blunders is a live ensemble bringing their engaging, ecstatic experience to adventurous audiences everywhere and anywhere.
