About this concert
Canada’s foremost worldbeat ensemble returns to The Registry Theatre for the premiere concert performance of their new seasonal cd, Christmas Caravan. JUNO Award nominees and Canadian Folk Music Award winners, the Sultans will deliver their exuberant originals, world-music inspired classics, and seasonal favourites. From fiery fiddle tunes to a Caribbean sleigh ride, the Sultans re-imagine gems like Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, The Huron Carol (with newly-translated Indigenous lyrics), a djembe-driven Little Drummer Boy, a Feliz Navidad ska party, a Turkish twist on Greensleeves, as well as a Gypsy-jazz inspired Django Christmas, and a Rumba Flamenca-fueled Jingle Bells. Shimmering guest vocalist Rebecca Campbell joins the band for this special performance.

We have released and are touring our ninth album, “Walking Through the Fire”, a powerful collection of collaborations with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit artists across Turtle Island.
We made this album in the spirit of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 calls to action, and Final Report that asks for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to work together as an opportunity to show a path forward.
