Holywell Music and Folk was born out of a desire and passion to bring live music to the heart of Oxford. Louise Jordan is a young singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist rapidly making an impact on the UK acoustic music scene. She has a purity of voice which melts the toughest of hearts and a delivery which unsettles the most discerning critic. Louise's idyllic music carries the listener away from the humdrum and mediocrity of daily life. It is at once sumptuous and all-embracing, yet delightfully simplistic; soothing yet powerful.

No Petticoats Here is her latest project that tells the stories of remarkable women of the First World War through song.

These songs recognise the extraordinary and inspirational achievements of women working in many spheres. From the women footballers who kept the sport alive during the First World War to the aspiring teenage journalist who dressed as a soldier and travelled to the Western Front on a bicycle, the women who risked their lives to treat the wounded yards from the German Front Line, an inventor and engineer, a master spy and the women who made the weapons of war.

She is one of the hardest working artists on the circuit at the moment and as one of the patrons of Holywell Music and Folk, we are delighted to welcome Louise to the Holywell Rooms to bring alive her No Petticoat Here show.
