Rock Goddess Cathy Richardson pays homage to the women who wrote and sang the songs that inspired her along the way. A childhood obsession with the band Heart caused Richardson to pick up a guitar and start wailing like a banshee, which led her on a storybook adventure where she found herself inextricably entwined in the music of Rocks original Queens Janis Joplin and Grace Slick. Richardson was writing music and fronting her own band around the Midwest for most of the 90s until being cast as Janis Joplin in the Off Broadway hit musical biopic Love, Janis. Richardson channeled the late, great Joplin to rave reviews in Chicago, New York and other cities including San Francisco, where she was invited to sing with Joplin’s original band members in Big Brother and the Holding Co on a national tour in honor of the 40th Anniversary of the Summer of Love. On that tour, she met the members of Jefferson Starship who quickly recruited her to join their band, where she remains as lead singer today. And when Jefferson Airplane won their GRAMMY lifetime achievement award in 2016, the long retired Grace Slick insisted that Richardson sing in her place. Expect a face melting musical journey as Richardson wraps her considerable chops around songs by Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, the Pretenders, Pat Benatar, and of course dipping into her own catalog of original songs.
