For four years he was a member of the Celtic Americana Band Scythian, which Nashville's Music City Roots says is "what happens when rock star charisma meets Celtic dervish fiddling." Trained on the classical violin, Ben-David plays the banjo, fiddle, viola, guitar, and mandolin. Ed Helms’s The Bluegrass Situation praises his new Scythian song “Built These Walls” as a “blue-collar ballad we can all get behind.” Julia Kwolyk has been playing the violin for 27 years and teaching it for 15. Julia studied the violin at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, served as concert mistress at the Connecticut College orchestra, and earned her B.A. in Music from Furman University in 2007. Nolan Ladewski began learning the tin whistle at age 6 and began touring at 12 with the band Kennedy's Kitchen. He added the flute to his repertoire, and honing his craft, Nolan qualified and competed in the All Ireland Competition in 2000 at the age of 13. Since then he has become a veteran on the US Celtic Festival circuit, and is now a full time member of the Celtic/Americana band Scythian. Erin Flynn earned a B.A. in Music with a concentration in cello performance at Kutztown University, and studied chamber music under Maria Asteriadou of Manhattan School of Music and the concertmaster of the New York Ballet.
