Farnaz Ohadi Music Biography
Farnaz has an extensive background in music making and singing. While growing up in her native land of Iran, she played piano, organized and sang in school choirs, and was heard every noon hour calling the worshipers to prayer.
Upon moving to Canada, her training in voice formalized with Operatic voice training under the guidance of Frederik Robert. She also studies Persian classical/ traditional and folk singing under the masterful guidance of Banoo Tahere Falahati. She has also been working with Judith Robinovitch, the vocal coach to the stars.
Farnaz has been training as a flamenco dancer since 1998, under the guidance of Kassandra Lea and Oscar Nieto. She began singing flamenco in 2002 under Oscar Nieto and began performing in various festivals, venues, cultural events and concerts throughout BC. She has since studied privately with artists from US and Spain, such as Vicente Amigo, Naike Ponce and Lucas Ortega.
Her love of music and performance has brought her together with many world class musicians and artists from across the world. She was drawn to combine Persian Poetry and Flamenco music in 2012 when she felt compelled to find her own authentic voice – this journey has brought her to the creation of Mashregh Ensemble and releasing her debut album: “Bird Dance”.
