About this concert
Following her hugely popular tribute to Ella Fitzgerald at this summer’s Jazz in the Park at Loseley, we are delighted to welcome Joanna with the spectacular ‘Jazz at the Movies’ band for this very special Swinging Christmas show!An enchanting show rich with anecdote, sophistication and swing, A Swinging Christmas gathers jazzy festive favourites as made famous by Ella, Eartha, Frank, Doris, Dean, Bing and other stars of the Silver Screen, with songs and soundtracks from classic films such as From Russia With Love and Let’s Make Love and Christmas tunes ranging from Winter Wonderland to Santa Baby. The band is a regular seasonal sell-out at Ronnie Scott’s and headlined many of the UK’s leading jazz clubs and festivals. Fronted by acclaimed singer Joanna Eden (‘the UK’s answer to Norah Jones and Diana Krall’ – Time Out) the band features the groovy sounds of the Chris Ingham trio, and special guest Mark Crooks, the clarinet and saxophone star of the internationally acclaimed John Wilson Orchestra. With a reputation for vivid music, deep repertoire and droll presentation, Jazz at the Movies and their Swinging Christmas show is the perfect way to begin the festivities. Have a listen here!Featuring JOANNA EDEN (voice), MARK CROOKS (sax/clarinet), CHRIS INGHAM (piano/MC), MARIANNE WINDHAM (bass), GEORGE DOUBLE (drums)“Joanna Eden and her first-class band had a ball… and so did the audience!” JAZZ JOURNAL“Sassy vocalist and her swinging quartet deliver the goods…” JAZZWISE

A very enjoyable concert. What a beautiful voice, her own compositions were thoughtfully crafted, harmonically and melodically pleasing, I particularly enjoyed the Latin inspired numbers, the band driving things along. To add sugar to the evening, it turned out that many years ago I played together in bands with her father, a bass player we were good friends but lost touch when he left to live in Norfolk. I understand that he is not too well, so I send him my good wishes, he must be very proud of his daughter.
